Item Details
This is a good example of an 18th century French Bergamot box. These were produced in the Grasse region of France. The Bergamot bark was dried and then covered in card coated with a chalk & glue mixture then painted and varnished. These boxes disappeared in the mid 19th century. This one is in good used condition commensurate with the age of the item.
