A unusual miniature tortoiseshell violin shaped box with silver decoration.

Chester 1896 Saunders & Shepherd. 

Beautifully made item, not sure what the original purpose was.  Opens and shuts with a small silver push button which works very well.  The inside is lined with the most wonderful green velvet.

The tortoiseshell is in great condition with signs of wear around one of the hinges
