A wonderful pair of 19th century treen shoes. Not sure of the purpose but guessing they maybe love tokens and associated with a marriage. I think. I am right in saying shoes were given for good luck.

Wonderful colour and patination. Front and base decorated with tiny brass studs.

Appears they may have been painted at some point as there is evidence of colour.

Simply delightful.
