Material

A rare hallmarked silver bookmakers badge. Chester 1929, no makers mark.

Walter Beresford was the 1st President of the Bookmakers Protection Association. The association was set up to counter the Birmingham gangs.

Research has found many of these in base metal but not in solid silver.

It is in excellent condition no wear to any of the enamel.
